So we made it to Jersey, a blizzard hit, and then within 24 hours we were celebrating Christmas with Addie and her cousins. Yes can my Southern friends believe that the roads were cleared that quick. We would be snowed in at home for a week or more! So Addie had so much fun and she still having so much fun playing with her cousins. She was so excited too to get the highly anticipated scooter! She has been riding it in my parent's house ever since! Here are some pics from Christmas! Oh including Grammy playing the Wii Dance game with the kiddos. Sorry grammy, I did not have any pictures of me to post-:)

Snow! Snow! And More Snow!

So Addie and I had to change our plans from leaving at a normal hour on the day after Christmas to leaving at 2:45am. See there was a blizzard heading to Jersey so it was either leave in the middle of the night or wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to make the trip. So you all know which one I would choose! So we took a girl's road trip in the middle of the night. Driving on 85 was no fun as it was still snowing and the highway was not always clear! How is that possible? At points we were the only car driving north! Addie was a trooper, she only slept 1 1/2 hours out of 10 1/2 hours and she watched Annie over and over the rest of the trip. The poor kid was asking for lunch at 6am, she was a little confused. So 85 was no fun, but it was pretty exciting to get to 95 and it was no longer snowing. We cruised all the way up 95 and then hit snow as soon as we entered New Jersey. That part took a while, but there were only 4 or 5 inches when we arrived so that was okay. And then it snowed and snowed and snowed. In total there was 19 inches of snow! Addie was not sure what to think about snow that came up to her waist!! She has been playing in the snow ever since and just yells for help when she gets stuck!! Here are some pictures of her enjoying the snow. Her cousin Andrew came over to play one day and she had so much fun! Her baby doll Cooper even got to enjoy some sledding. We had to get Addie some snow boots, and well you can tell that Addie's mommy is not going to win any fashion awards for that get up! I have on some big yellow boots over my snow boots! Oh and yes she is in snow up to her waste, she is actually standing up!

Christmas 2010

We celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas day in North Carolina with Chuck and his family, what fun! Then Addie and I headed up North to New Jersey to spend some time with her Yankee relatives. Chuck had to stay behind to work-:( Christmas Eve was spent with Chuck's whole family and then we rushed home to spread Reindeer food so Santa and his Reindeer could come! Addie had a wonderful Christmas and Santa was certainly good to her. She got a pink tent, a kiddy camera, lots of zhu zhu pet stuff, a guitar, new baby dolls and barbies, and hte highly anticipated scooter. On Christmas day she innocently put her little head down and said that Santa brought her everything she wanted except for a scooter. It was pathetic! See Santa knew that Grammy and Poppy had a scooter waiting for Addie in Jersey. She was so excited when she opened that scooter. We spent Christmas day with the family and then we went ice skating at the rink. This is becoming a family tradition. We had a blast and Addie is becoming quite the little ice skater!!! We then had to rush home and pack so Addie and I could leave in teh middle of the night to try to beat the blizzard that was heading to Jersey!!!

Here are a few pre-Christmas activities of Little Ms. Addie. We enjoyed the Christmas tree lighting in downtown Greensboro (near daddy's downtown rink as Addie calls it), we attended the Jamestown Christmas parade, and Toy Story on Ice. We also made time to see the lights at Tanglewood. That was a challenge to fit all of that as Addie
s daddy sure has been working tons! We missed tons of Christmas parties this year-:(
Addie did her traditional Dollar Store shopping, the gifts were interesting as always including a hula hoop for her grammy, musical ties for her daddy, paw paw, and poppy, a Whoopie cushion for her Uncle. Her daddy also got a toy bow and arrow and a tool (aka paint scraper). Daddy took Addie shopping at the high dollar Dollar Store, mommy got a new movie (Milo and Otis) and a toy set with a fire truck, police car, and school bus. That was just what I wanted and I will keep them forever! And Addie and her mommmy made a Gingerbread House and lots of cookies. She was certainly in the Christmas spirit this year!!

Here are just a few pictures for those of you who thought I would not do it (mom)! More to come this weekend! These are just some pictures from the summer. Notice the life jacket in most of them. Addie is a water bug! She loves to go the lake and is demandin gof boat rides. Even if we are taking pretend boat rides with the boat parked at the dock. She often drives for those and we go to Target, the hockey rink, ChickEN Fil A, and nanu and paw paw's house. She loves to jet ski and she has even gone tubing a few times this summer. Gutsy little thing isn't she. A few of the other pics are from her grammy and poppy and cousin Andrew visiting, the baseball game, the Burch family beach trip, and a few trips to the Children's Museum.

Well Hello Strangers!!

Okay so obviously I am being smart with the title of this blog. You all are not strangers, you often check to see if I have added even just one new picture of Addie, and nope- sure haven't. You just close the blog disappointed, thinking Addie must be stuck at age two. Okay that is mostly meant for my mother, who often gives me a hard time about not blogging. Well I am trying to turn a new leaf and do better with a few things in life. I have recently turned 35, I know hard to believe (yeah right)and it is time to get it together. So here are the goals- I am going to blog more, keep some photo albums organized, exercise more (don't we all say that) and use that darn electric toothbrush (I hate that thing.) Simple goals I know and here is the progress. So I am blogging now, we can't push it thought I will add pictures this weekend! HA! I went walking tonight with my girlfriend (thanks Megan, love having you as a temporary neighbor), and well the photo albums will come. As for that darn toothbrush, I went to the dentist today (which is the worst thing in the whole world by the way)and I was told as I am told every six months, it is really best to use a Sonicare Toothbrush. Yeah it know that fools, but it wierda me out as I think of the dentist! So I am going to do it (I have one, but hate it)just so when I go back in 6 months they will stop staying that stupid remark to me! I told the dentist today that obviously I do not follow recommendations for eating healthy all of the time (as I am overwweight) or for sleeping 8 hours a night as I am tired
(Addie thinks there are monsters in her room) so why does he think I am going to listen about that toothbrush. He looked at me really strange, but it is okay now I am on a mission to get him to shut up! HA! Can one of you tell me I am fat or overweight too, that would work for weight loss! Great Plan!

Okay so those are my goals! Maybe I should add to lose the attitude!

As for Addie updates, she is awesome well most of the time-HA! She is obsessed with Alvin and the Chipmunks and sings the songs from the movie non-stop. She is not a cartoon child or a noggin watcher, she just wants to watch her movies and mainly those Chipmunks. She sings I'm a Single Lady non-stop as the Chipettes since that in the movie. Yes I am serious! She also sings Who Let the Dogs Out, They Call Me Mellow Yellow, and the theme song to Cops. Speaking of Cops, ask about Halloween. Well we will be trick or treating in Disney World on Halloween so a princess or minnie mouse comes to mind as a costume. Not for Addie. She wants to be a police-cop(her term not mine).Oops she has seen Cops a few times with us, which I am not sure if that is more pathetic for her or for Chuck and I. She is serious about being a cop so I guess that is what she will be. If we all decide to dress up as we will be in Disney (my whole family) then I guess Chuck and I can be the criminals.

I won't overload you with this one blog, since I promise to keep blogging. The last time was March (sorry). I will keep everyone posted on my little darling who is quickly approaching age 3. How is that possible?? We enjoy every single day with that little munchin! She makes us laugh non-stop! It is just two weeks until her birthday!!

The Latest Addie Antics!

So do not get too excited (mom)there are no new pictures. I am being lazy. I thought I would add a post about Addie's latest updates, but I am just too tired to add pictures today. Addie is approaching 2 1/2 and she is just hysterical. She says the funniest things these days. Her favorite thing to say is "Sure mom" and her favorite show is American Idol-Seriously! She is obsessed with Tinkerbelle too, poor Elmo has taken a major backseat lately! She loves her babydolls and we have to feed and play with them all of the time! There are a variety of babies/ animals that have to sleep with her at night (Tinkerbelle, Minnie (1), Minnie (2), Elephant, Pita (doll), Johnny (mermaid), Baby Jenna (my old Cabbage Patch)and at least two other baby dolls each night. How does she fit in the bed?? Oh we have to play with her house and kitchen all of the time too. We are into cooking lots of toy food, she is quite the chef!!

Addie is working on potty training, when she feels like it. So there is some progress there, but some days are slow going. We will continue to work on it. Bribery is in full force too (bad parenting technique I know), but hey whatever it takes.I showed her a Tinkerbelle movie in Target that I told her she can get when she starts wearing big girl panties all of time. I have been known to try to bribe with candy too! Oops! Some days she sits on the potty and pushes with all of her might to go potty, but nothing and then she says it is just too hard mommy. How pathetic, she is really trying!

She just loves to play outside, but not if she will get too dirty. She loves her swing set and to go to the playground, but she does not like to go near the mud. We have been playing tea party on the platform of her swing set lately- she just loves that!! She still loves hockey and she gets very upset lately if we go near the ice rink and someone is on the ice (meaning she can not ice skate.) So I have worked it out with Chuck that we will be going ice skating again on Easter when the rink is closed. She is a budding ice skater/ hockey player. I vote for the ice skater, but her daddy is pulling for a hockey player.

Addie is into fashion lately. She is starting to want a say in what is she is wearing for the day. Anytime I buy her new clothes and bring them home she is just too excited to pull out the new items. Each one she studies and lays out on the floor and notes if it is cute or not. In the store, sometimes she will tell me that she does not like something or say no thanks mom if she does not want it! What little girl says that they do not want a new pair of shoes??

She is also very proud of her new hair cut! The hair cut was a must as she had a terrible habit of twirling her hair and she twirled it into a mess. There was one spot where her hair had broken off causing one side to be much longer then the other. Not so cute!! So it is cut off, it is pretty short, but it is a cute little bob. We are breaking the habit, but now she twirls my hair. I guess I will need the hair cut next! Ha!

Lastly, what have we done lately?? Well we have been to the circus-super fun! Although Addie was terrified at first and wanted to leave after 30 seconds of the circus. She learned to love it and the elephants were her favorite. We went to the zoo today-super fun too! Again she loved the elephants! We loved the 60+ weather. Thanks to Chuck's Parents, Lori, and Kenny for going with us.

Coming up we are planning a trip to New Jersey-sometime soon! We have not been to Jersey since July- that is so long. We always go a few times a year and I Have never had this long of a break since going home. My parents are coming to visit soon so that is super exciting too!! Not much else is going on, just work and play!

Oh and for all of the concerned friends and family, B-I-N-G-O (#3) is doing well. Addie just loves her fish(which she obviously named), but we kep killing the poor little Beta fishies. This is the third one, she does not know that though so SHHH! She sings the B-I-N-G-O song to him every morning. She is quite the little singer! Oh and speaking of singing her new favorite songs are Who's that Lady and $5 Foot Long(yes the Subway commercial song!)

So Addie got a new fish this week and she of course got to name the fish. Well she is original I will give her that! The fish is B-I-N-G-O. Seriously, not Bingo, but
B-I-N-G-O like the song. So funny.

Cruise Pics! First Stop -Grand Turk!!

We just had the pleasure of cruising around the Carribean with Chuck's family for a whole week. It was really nice to have some sunshine in the middle of January. We had a blast and it was wonderful to have a whole week with Addie!! I am going to post the pics by each stop so our first port was Grand Turk. There was a shopping area right at the port, but we ventured into the downtown area of Grand Turk to check out the culture. Well lets just say there was not much to downtown Grank Turk. There were about four buildings total(See pictures).It was sad actually, but we still had fun. Although Lori was really worried about our safety-HA! Grand Turk was hit by a hurricane in 2008 and the island was pretty devastated. I am glad that the big cruise ships still stop there to help rebuild their economy. Here are some pics of Grand Turk. Oh and the pics are out of order, but us in our coats-that was leaving Florida. It was in the 40s in Florida-hence the coats! More pics to come! Next stop is Puerto Rico and that was my favorite!

Princess on Ice!

Any Doctors Out there?

Okay the wierdest thing has made for a rough week. So the short story is I had some vision issues the other night with blurred vision, being lightheaded, could not walk real straight, and a dull headache. It was an ocular migraine (? on spelling of ocular). Meaning a migraine connected to your eyes/ vision. Okay so didn't you think a migraine meant a terrible terrible headache where light hurts your head and you want to puke?? I guess not always!

Well I have now been to the doctor way too many times this week with the regular doctor and an eye doctor and I still feel yucky. And yes, typing right now is part of the reason I am sure that my head still hurts- I know I am stubborn. My husband is going to kill me soon if I do not go to bed. So it has been two days and I still have a headache and I am not really up for taking the migraine meds that the doctor gave me. To make matters worse, I had that dull headache and then I had to have my eye dilated today. Yeah not a good idea as that gives you a headache anyway. I thought I would puke my head hurt so bad. You should have seen me today too on this rainy dreary day with my sunglasses on inside my office. I am sure some people thought that I was nuts or maybe high- HA! I will be the talk of the office. It is not like the end of world headache, but this has been long enough and I would like to feel normal!!!! How strange is that, that you can feel fine and all of a sudden not see straight? Any thoughts on how to make a headache go away? Without taking a day off that is??

Lindsey's Wedding Weekend! What a good little flower girl!

Well, Addie now has a new Uncle as Addie's Aunt Lindsey was married this past weekend. Welcome to the family Uncle Trent. Addie was the flower girl and we were not so sure how that would work since she just turned 2 and hated the dress. Everytime I would try the dress on, she would say "Me off". Not a good sign! Well not only did she wear the dress and look so cute, she actually went down the aisle. What are the chances. Addie's daddy was the back up plan and started down the aisle with her and she was intently dropping rose petals. I was at the front of the aisle to try to coax her down and it worked a little too well. She screamed mommy and came running down the aisle (yes in the ceremony). Still cute, but funny. She did pretty well sitting with us during the ceremony, of couse chattering away, but she was pretty quiet. Chuck and I did a reading during the ceremony with Addie in tow. Addie would not sit with her Paw Paw as planned so she stood between my legs during the reading. Cute huh! She really was cute. Sorry I do not have pictures of her coming down the aisle, Chuck had the camera. I sure hope someone else got pictures of her running down the aisle (If so please forward.) At the reception, which was super fun, Addie had a blast. She wanted to dance with mommy holding her at first, but then she got down to perform her classic moves of raising the roof, spinning, and snapping before she left the reception. Addie left early with my dear friend Dina and then her mommy and daddy got to have fun! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Griffin!! Here are a few random pics from the park, home, and around town!These pictures include Addie trying on her flower girl dress and sweeping (What's up Cinderella?), Addie's new swing set, and playing with Allie. Addie's birthday present from her mommy and daddy and many relatives(Grammy and Poppy, Nanu and Paw Paw, Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tim, Uncle Scott and Aunt Krysta, and Aunt Lori and Kenny).Addie's daddy, poppy, and paw paw built this swing set from scratch for her birthday. Since swing sets are soo expensive everyone chipped in on this big present and can we say that Addie loves it. This is a bad picture as it was only part way done and no swings are up, yet, but you get the idea. Thanks to Chuck and to Addie's grandpas for their hard work! Addie's Birthday Party!

Addie's 2nd Birthday sure was fun! So the party was cow themed as Addie has a little obession with cows! She is a trip! The party was super fun and alot of Addie's friends were there. Her grammy, poppy, cousin Allie, Aunt Lori and Kenny, Nanu and Paw Paw were all there too! Of course lots of other family and friends were there as well. Thanks to everyone for celebrating Addie's big day with us! Addie was dressed for the occasion in a little cowgirl outfit that her Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tim bought her for dress-up clothes!! Too funny! Sorry for the delay in posting, blame it on Addie's mom. Addie celebrated her 2nd birthday with lots of excitement. Addie's grammy, poppy, and cousin Allie arrived on her actual birthday and we headed to the Children's Museum for an afternoon of fun!We then went to dinner for Addie's favorite foods and Nanu and Paw Paw joined in. Then back to the house for cake and presents. Addie's mommy baked the cake and I make no claims to having any ability to bake. Just look at the cake, what in the world happened to it? It tasted okay, but it split down the middle. I will be buying a cake next year. Good thing that I did not try to make the cake for the birthday party. HA! Addie had a wonderful day!

Here are some pictures from our recent weekend at Smith Mountain Lake. We were at the lake with Chuck's parents, my mama, and with Crystal, Elson, Elson, and Dylan. Crystal is the saint that takes care of my little darling while I am at work! What would we do without her. It was a fun weekend!
And yes it was in June, I am slack I know. As for Addie updates, she is not so fond of the water anymore, but she loves boat rides!

Burch Beach Trip

Chuck, Addie, and I went on the annual Burch family beach trip with the entire Burch family in June and what fun we had. Addie had tons of fun playing with everyone and being spoiled rotten. Although, Addie hated the sand (no surprise there as she plays in her sandbox at home standing on the outside reaching in) and she hated swimming. That is a new development as Addie has always loved the water. Lets just say the ocean was a huge no and the pool she would go in only if she was holding on tight to her mama's neck, but then she would only just tolerate the pool. We have made some ground in recent weeks at the lake, but Addie is not the little water bug that she was last summer. She even plays in her baby pool from standing on the outside. Funny little girl! Oh and a side note when she did go on the beach, she had to keep her shoes on! Drama huh! She must get that from her daddy!

Elmo Pics!

Okay so we went Memorial Day weekend to see Elmo and yes I am just getting around to posting the pictures. Slack I know, but better late then never. For everyone that does not know, Addie has a huge obsession with Elmo. I mean huge! She loves Elmo and knows all of the Sesame Street characters. She walks around signing Do Do Do Do Do Elmo. That is her version of the Elmo's World song. Hey that is better than when she used to sing Oscar's Song, I love trash and just say I trash! I trash!

I will say that Elmo has tough competition now with cows as Addie now loves cows as much as Elmo. When we go down a country road she starts looking for cows. Strange I know, but there are tons of cows on the way to the lake and Addie just loves the cows. My dad and I even took a field trip the other night just to show her cows. HA! I may buy her shoes for her obsession with shoes, but there is no cow in her future.

Okay so I know it has been forever. I promise we have been doing really fun family stuff lately. We have been to see Elmo (yes that was in May-oops!), we have been to the beach, the lake twice recently, and my parents have been to visit. I do have great pics from all of those activities too so I will work to post pics soon. I promise.

On a more serious note, I just wanted to take the time to make a post about my wonderful grandpa. Edward Thomas Sr. passed away on Sunday and what a loss to our family. My grandfather, known as Pop, was such a kind soul and he will surely be missed. Our hearts are deeply saddened with Pop not with us any longer. We certainly know that he will be watching over us and for that there is a sense of peace. Chuck, Addie, and I will be leaving town on Wednesday to go to New Jersey for the services and to spend this time with my family. And to my family, we love you all and will be there soon with hugs!!

Hello from the Burch family!!

Okay so I know it has been a while, probably over a month to be exact. Well, this is just a post to let everyone know that we have not forgotten about the blog, Mama Burch has just been busy busy. Most of you know I had a job change, well still the same workplace, but I reluctantly returned to doing CPS work and investigating child abuse and neglect. Yes, I have done it before, but those were years before I was a mommy. Wow what stress and a crazy schedule. It has been a long and busy few months. Well the reason I am blogging is I am thrilled to say that I am going back to being an Adoptions Social Worker. Yeah! I am already less stressed!!!! And yeah for Addie and Chuck too! It is amazing how a job can make you so stressed and that can reflect in your personality and you ability to a be a good mama. I was getting snippy with my darling little girl and that is so not me! And we all know that little miss Addie is the most important thing in my whole world. So to my friends, I may actually have time to visit soon and play. Oh and I am not sure about returning to the flex schedule, it may be a little while, but maybe in the future.

What is up on the home front. We have been to Jersey for a visit, we have been to the lake already this spring, we took Addie to see Elmo (what fun), and Addie is just growing and growing. Addie thinks she is a big girl now and she is trying to potty train like her little friends at daycare. She has gone on the potty and even demanded to wear big girl panties the other day. See she does think she is grown.
Addie is repeating everything now. It is funny! She even called Chuck "dude" the other day. I guess I called him dude, what is up with that. I am starting to consider coverting her crib to a toddler bed. Where has my baby gone! I guess it may be time for # 2- HA! I promise I will post pictures soon, it really has just been too hectic around here.

Upcoming family plans are we are going on the Burch family beach trip soon, Chuck's birthday is approaching, and my mama is coming to visit for two weeks on June 20th. We are just busy busy! I promise pictures will come!

Lake Pictures!

Last weekend we enjoyed our first trip to Smith Mountain Lake this year. Addie had tons of fun on the boat! The baot would lull her to sleep some, but she enjoyed the ride the rest of the time, especially when she was driving the boat with her daddy. Sorry I did not have my camera for the driving excursions. Our challenge this summer will be figuring how to keep little miss busy from jumping off the side of the pier. She is not afraid of the water at all which is a little scary. Of course her lifejacket is on, but her mama is still worried about going off the side of the pier. What if she hit her head? My idea is one of those little gates that go in a circle, kind of like a cage. I know that is terrible, but what else are we to do? Chuck is totally against locking her in a cage. Poor girl! Maybe I will just drink alot so that I do not make myself crazy or make Addie crazy staying right on top of her. Here are some pics! Check out the one with the sunglasses. Addie updates!

Well Addie is quickly approachng 19 months old (tomorrow) and she is all of a sudden very grown. (That is not good!) She has started experiencing time out this week as she is starting to be a little defiant. Terrible twos are starting a little early. HA! Like when you tell her no, she keeps doing whatever you told her not to do and watching to see what you do. Like climb the stairs, etc. and then she will stop come back all sweet and shortly again start testing again. How cute-huh? Oh and then the hitting, that is where time out has come in. Last week she hit her best buddy at daycare and made her cry, yes she actually hit 3 year old Avery and made her cry. I was shocked! Addie is not aggressive or so we thought. Well then I saw it myself. I was off on Tuesday and Addie and I went to play with my friend Cameron and her sweet little Ella. Addie was a hot mess! She hit Ella, took her toys repeatedly, and was just not listening to her mama! I could not believe that she hit poor sweet Ella. I have a bully! Sorry to Cameron and Ella as we went over to help out the pregnant mama and I just had to referee my little terror the whole time. Then today what did she do, she hit Avery again. Okay so we do not spank and we have a little hitting machine! And to think that for years I have given parenting information to parents through my job and I am having to think hard about all of that stuff now myself. 90% of the time Addie is still the sweetest little thing, but we need to curb the hitting of her friends. Oh and yes to my friends this is true, that sweet little smiley angel that is always so shy is acting out, can you believe it.

On a much brighter note, Addie is just mommy's little sweetie (most of the time that is-HA!) She has this thing now that when she is sitting on my lap she always has to sit to the side and put her arm around my neck. Quirky huh! She loves to play with my hair too, what styles she can do.

Oh and we are still absolutely fascinated with Elmo and hockey! So how is it that Chuck was watching hockey the other night (two random teams) and Addie was not interested at all. The announcer started talking for the Hurricanes game and she started her cheering for hockey and climbed up on the couch to watch, no kidding! She knew the announcer for the Hurricanes! Ridiculous huh!

Oh and Elmo, so we were at the lake this past weekend and the DVD player was not working. Elmo withdraw for Addie. So like usual we were singing the Elmo songs as Chuck and I now know them by heart from hearing them in the car on the DVD player and at home some. Well in some of the Elmo videos it goes Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Elmo's World, and yes to you Elmo experts it does go La La La La sometimes too. Anyway how about Addie now sings the song all of the time, her version is Do Do Do Do Elmo. So flipping funny! Oh and sometimes it is Do Do Do Do Elmo World in that cute little voice.

Newest favorite Addie word of mine is Okay, she says it funny to me. So cute. Oh and herro for hello. Ha!

Last update, you all need to hear Addie count. We have been teaching her to count from 1 to 5. She is really getting it, but she never says four. She goes 1, 2, 3, 5. There was a night recently where she woke up hysterical in the middle of the night and she ended up in bed with us. So not the norm and we were so tired and she was ready to play. Well we were trying to get her to go to sleep and all of a sudden at 4:00am she breaks out counting and she did 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. We could not help but crack up as she actually got 4. Such a funny little girl! We sure do love her, even in this bully stage!

Here are some pics of Addie and her cousins Drew and Kylie during their recent visit! These are pics around the house, from the Children's Museum, etc. Addie loved playing with her cousins! Oh and as to why I am going down the slide at the Children's Museum with Addie well she refused to go down alone and we were getting quite a line behind us so there we went. My brother in law was so kind to snap the picture (that is sarcasm), good thing he put the camera down before I climbed out of that slide, that was not be a pretty sight.

Okay all so a little poll. So Addie's straggly redneck hair? To cut or not to cut?? Her bangs are getting really long and she will not keep a barette in for long at all. It is also getting long over her ears, but that is more manageable as it is really long enough now to put behind her ears. So do I cut her hair so that those bangs do not look terrible when they fall in her face or do I wait it out and let them get longer. I fear that with a haircut she will look as if she has a mullet as I do not want to cut her little curls in the back. And mullets are just not acceptable to this yankee mama!! But the current bangs in her face look so redneck! What is a mama to do???

Addie and her cousins participated in four Easter egg hunts Easter weekend. Addie got more into it each hunt, but still would want to find a few eggs and then move on to what was inside the eggs. Addie's mommy had to get a little abrupt with some older kiddos at one of the Easter egg hunts. Seriously did they need to try to steal the one egg that the one year old little girl is trying to get. So it is not offensive that I told the kid who was about 10 or 11 to back off. Oops! I was defending my baby girl! HA!

Addie's First Trip to the Zoo!!!

Well this is a little delayed, but Addie had her first trip to the zoo over Easter weekend. Addie made her first zoo visit with her cousins Drew and Kylie. My sister, her husband, and their two kids came to visit for the weekend and we had a great day at the zoo. The only thing missing was Addie's Daddy. I hate that he missed her first zoo trip, but he waa busy at work redoing the ice that week. We will just have to visit again soon! Addie loved the elephants the best and kept going back to the fence yelling elephant as she wanted to stay there. Too cute! As for the carousel, she would only ride it sitting on my lap. Hence why I am on the carousel with her. Oh and in the kid zone, she just loved the mud pie kitchen. It was like combining her kitchen set and sand box all is one, she just loved it. Well the Burch family purchased a new car today for mama and Addie loves it! So we had a very cool DVD system added to our new car and what excitement that brought for Addie. Of course Addie did not know that mommy and daddy were getting a new car today until I picked her up from daycare. Well I made a stop at Target to buy a new Elmo DVD for the new car and what a hit it was. Can I just say we are obsessed with Elmo! Well, Addie could not wait to get into her car seat once I told her that we could watch Elmo in the car. (She usually is pretty ticked off about getting strapped in her seat!) She was so excited and just had a blast the whole way home watching Elmo and checking out her new space. The only problem is will she now expect to watch Elmo every time that she gets in my car- Oh no! I just thought it was pretty funny that of course us adults check out all of the gadgets and like having a new car, but so do 1 year olds.

Second thought what did we do as kids in the car on trips? we did not have DVD players that were also video games, that is just ridiculous! How and why can you now play 30 different video games in your car and need a remote. Remember the license plate game or maybe reading a book- that was how we passed the time! Now these kiddos have everything.

Okay! Okay! I know you are reading this when you get to work and are totally annoyed with me. So the pictures will come I promise, but for now good night! Sorry, I did not post the pictures as I promised, but that application took over two hours online and used way too many brain cells to now upload pictures. We will see what happens with that, oh did I tell you that it is a 10 month job. That means summer off with Addie! I may be able to get used to that. Love ya!

Oh guess what we found out today- Sesame Street is coming to the Greensboro Coliseum! Will Addie not just flip her lid if she sees Elmo is person. Yes, she is still completely completely obsessed. I need to video tape her watching Elmo- it is a hoot! We plan to call for tickets- well actually Chuck said he had a friend who works there and can get us tickets. I am a little worried on that one and that my wonderful husband will forget to get them. I know everyone- he is wonderful, but he does have the memory of a man- uh oh! Maybe I should just buy the tickets! Either way Sesame Street- here we come!

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

So who knew that the obsession with shoes starting so early. So Addie will be 18 months this week (can you all believe that) and she just loves shoes. Not necessarily wearing them as she prefers to have her toes out too, but playing with shoes. She loves her rain boots a whole whole lot! Well, Chuck left work early on my day off this week (YEAH!) and he asked if we wanted to go shopping! (Side note- what the heck got into him- he hates to shop!) Anyway we ended up at the mall. (Another wierd note- who goes to the mall anymore- we never do.) So we were looking for shoes for Addie for the spring. What a hoot! So we go in the store and I start looking at shoes. Before I know it she has her shoes off as she understood that I planned to try some shoes on her. Well, we try the first pair on and she gives a big smile and hands me her old shoes as they were obviously not good enough anymore. That was it she was satisfied and she wanted that pair and she planned to keep wearing them. So I know that kids like to wear their new shoes out of the store, but that starts at age 1?? Sure enough! She kept the new shoes on with tags and all. Don't worry we did cut the tags off, but I hate to admit that she was wearing sandle type shoes with socks. Oh what a no no, but she insisted and her daddy was with us. He is not so worried about fashion as her mama is. She looked like a hot mess! Again good thing no one ever goes to the mall so we did not see anyone we knew- HA! Until we went out to dinner with Chuck's parents- you know I was so worried that we would see someone-HA!

Oh and the second shopping incident, so I am really funny about clothes with characters on them. I have no idea what my issue is because I of course think it is fine when other kids have on a shirt with elmo, Dora, etc., but I never buy clothes like that. Obviously, I know there would come a time when Addie would insist on clothes with her favorite characters and I would have to oblige, but I was not ready for that time yet. Again, her daddy was with us when we spotted an outfit with Elmo. Of course I cringed, but her daddy saw it and then Addie saw it and was so excited about Elmo. Oh no I thought! Well, it is nicely folded in her dresser now. I guess I better get over my silly issue.

Lastly, do you all know why we even went to the mall. Chuck wanted a Hurricanes jersey or shirt for Addie. She is obsessed with hockey. She even gets the remote and says hockey. can you all believe that she and I watched hockey the other night when Chuck was not home. I am not kidding. She insisted and was so excited when I put it on. She yells Go Canes, Score, and Go Go while she watches. You all know how excited her daddy is. Well no jersey or shirt to be found. I guess we have to get one at the Hurricans game next time we go.

Slack blogger!

So slack is the word all around for me lately. I have been slack at blogging and slack at taking pictures of little miss Addie. This is my goal this weekend to take lots of pictures of the busy little bee! She is sooo busy all of the time and so fun! Addie's favorite past times these days are dancing, reading books, and watching hockey with her daddy. Seriously the child loves hockey. She gets the remote and says either Elmo or hockey. Oh and her other new thing I am not so fond of, she has started sticking her finger up her nose. No she is not picking her nose, she just puts her finger up her nose and leaves it there until I tell her no no. Then she cries like I broke her heart. That is not very lady like. What else is new, Addie is a big girl and the ba ba is all gone. I was so stressed about taking the bottle away as she would wake up asking for a ba ba and then she would ask again before bed. However a little persistance and telling her the ba ba was all gone and after two days we were all done. My baby is now a big girl!!!! So that is the Addison update. Pictures to come this weekend and by the way does everyone know that Addie will be 18 months on the 24th of this month. Wow she is growing so fast!

Other updates. Well we are thrilled to have my sister, her husband, and her children coming to visit for Easter. Addie will be so excited to play with Drew and Kylie for a long weekend. What fun! I see lots of Easter egg hunts in our future.

On the work front, agh it is work! I am currently still flexing and having off on Fridays, but I have no idea how long that will continue. I will change positions next week and go from an Adoptions Social Worker to a Child Protective Services Investigator. Yes I have done this before and I am not thrilled to return to this job. Pretty depressed actually. There is a need for that position so there was shifting done and this is my new fate. So wish me luck with juggling this crazy busy job with being a mama. I am pretty worried about how to balance this so we will see. I will have a few weeks of slow time while I learn the new paperwork etc, but then it is full force April 1st. So to all of my girls in town get ready for a night of drinks on the town, I may need it! HA!

Little Miss Chatterbox!!!

Oh my goodness! So all of a sudden Addie is just talking and talking! Today Chuck and I actually counted all of the words that Addie says, she went from about 10 to 25 in a week. Here are her words for all of those who wonder what sounds come out in that adorable little voice of hers. And yes some of these would may not be able to be identified by outside sources- just kidding. How is that parents can understand what their child is babbling, but anyone else would never get what it is. HA!

She says: Dada, Mama/ Mom, Ba Ba, Ball, Baby, Go, Dog, Up(or Upa), Down, Eat, Bath, Elmo (my favorite word), Paw Paw, Poppy, Nanu, Nana(Banana), Wow, Whoa, Yeah, Yes/ Ye, No (my least favorite), More, Ana(Another), Elsa (Elson), Book( it took forever for her to learn that one), Hat, Hi, Bye Bye, and I am sure that I am missing some! What advancement in a week huh! It is so exciting, but sad too- she is growing up so fast!

Oh and she two new activities, she likes to lift up her shirt and pat her tummy- what's up tarzan! So ladylike huh! And she likes to stand on the couch or floor behind me and play with my hair. She acts like she is really fixing my hair. Do these little ones mimic us or what! I mean she mimics about fixing the hair, we do not act like Tarzan in this house!

Okay so I have been slack lately. Sorry! I will post some new pictures this weekend. This four day work week sure is wonderful, but it makes for one tired social worker, mama, wife, friend, blogger, and whatever else I am during those four days. So here is my promise to post some pics this weekend. We have tons of pictures of the Little Miss enjoying Christmas in New Jersey. She even sported some Jersey girl hair during the holidays. HA! You will see what I mean when you see the pictures. Hysterical! Well we had a wonderful holiday and the New Year is going well. We rang in 2009 at home in our PJs- exciting I know, but we waited until the very last minute to start looking for a babysitter and no luck. That could be as I am pretty ridiculous and let only a few people watch Addie. I am not up for teenage babysitters yet, I guess that is a job hazard as I just know too much. So 2009 is going well except for the sick bug that has come through our house- yuck! Of course it was fine when Chuck and I had the bug, but Addie was just pathetic. She sat in my lap or Chuck's lap all day on Sunday, except for maybe one hour total when she would venture out of our arms to play. She is all better now.

Well here are the latest stats. Addie returned to the pediatrician today for her 15 month check-up! (Side note- where the heck does the time go, how is my little baby now 15 months old!) Anyway, she is doing just fine! She weighs 24 lbs (most of that is in her thighs-everyone knows that if you have seen her lately). She is still in the 90th percentile for her height and 75th percentile for her weight. So she is still taller than she is pudgy. I wish I could say the same-UGH! It is crazy too that the pediatrician told us we could start exploring potty training, what- she is so little! He did not say that we have too, but we can start. Can we tell that I am in denial that she is gowing up so fast. Oh and he told us to work on losing the bottle. I of course knew that one, but agh that should be fun! My Little Primadonna only takes her milk warm and from a bottle. Any great suggestions anyone? We have started trying to cut it back, but then she does not get milk.

Other Addie updates. Her favorite word is still wow! wow! wow! wow! When we flew to NJ and the plane took off she just kept repeating wow! wow! wow! It was soo funny, everyone around us was cracking up! I guess you can say she likes flying! She walks so fast now that she runs! It is pretty cute! She loves to gives hugs and sometimes kisses! She is still a mama's girl, but she sure does love her daddy too! Her vocabulary is expanding all of the time. Oh and she has eight teeth with two more coming. She still loves to take her shoes and socks off in the car- not cute when it is cold outside! And her favorite toys are baby dolls, a stroller that she got for Christmas, a zoo that she got for Christmas, and her favorite favorite toy is her new kitchen from Santa! She also now likes to wear jewelry, she has two necklaces with huge beads and she puts them on and smiles big and waits for you to tell her that she looks pretty. We are creating a snob! Okay that is it for now, that is all that is new with the Little Miss! Pictures will follow this weekend!

Well today is the big day and we are sooooooo excited. We will fly out at 9am. So if you are wondering how in the world I have time to post on the blog page today when we will leave for the airport around 7am. Well, I can not sleep-I have been up since 4am! What's up with that? Maybe it is the excitement of seeing my family or that I am so ridiculous that I have thought a million times of what we need to take for Addie and I do not want to forget anything. So wish us luck that this flight is on time or it will make for a long airport experience with busy little Addie. HA!

Oh and for all of my Southern friends, we may see a white Christmas! YEAH! The forecast is for snow Sunday and again on Wednesday. Fun Times!

Oh and how perfect is this timing? I have been working to teach Addie to say Santa and Ho Ho Ho for the last few weeks! Well she has got it, she makes the funniest little face when she says Ho Ho Ho! Well Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Three More Days to Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay three more days and we are off! I can not wait. Just one more day of work and then I am off until the 29th- 10 whole days with Addie!!! Don't get me wrong I do like my job and I love my kids that I work with, but wow this is a much needed break. I have been working really hard lately. Don't feel bad for me, I just work so hard to have that four day work week- how awesome is that! Have I mentioned that everyone has that option and most people do not take it. They have seriously hit their heads! So tomorrow is my Friday!!! Happy Friday!!!

Okay this is just a little check to see if my mom and dad are reading this. So we have been really busy lately and we have not visited Santa yet- Oops! Do you want to go with us? I thought you might like that special treat? We love you guys and can not wait to see y'all!

6 More Days to Go!

Okay, we are getting really excited now! Only 6 more days until Addie and I fly North for the holidays. Okay well I am excited, Addie honestly has no idea of our plans! We will surely miss Chuck as we travel a few days ahead of him, but we are so excited to visit with my family. Grammy and Poppy here we come! We are going to get to attend Kylie's family birthday party as well! We never get to attend birthday parties with living so far away so this is really exciting. (Oh for those who do not know Kylie is our niece who is turning 5 on the 15th.)
So just a few more days mom and dad! We love you!

Oh and to my brother, the yankee. No offense, but you are a yankee! He called to tell me that he was offended by my yankee remarks on the blog. HA! Well to let everyone know, as I explained to him, I can make those comments as I am one too. And proud of it! HA! Does that make you feel better Scott! Just teasing- love ya!

Oh and on a side note for activities here before before we go. Addie and I are meeting Chuck at the ice rink for the holiday ice skating show today. Yes, we will freeze-AGH! IT is so darn cold in that place. I guess we can see today what she thinks of ice skating. She is a huge hockey fan, so I need to try to convert her to ice skating, that just seems a little safer for a little girl. Wish me luck!

11 Days and Counting!!

I am so excited! In less than 11 days (12/20) Addie and I will be off to New Jersey for the holidays! This will be Addie's first plane ride so keep your fingers crossed that she does well on the plane! The end result is well worth it as we will be in Jersey for a whole week with all of the kiddos, Grammy and Poppy, Addie's Aunts and Uncles and more! Actually the whole darn family is in Jersey, I am the only one who left town! So fun times are in the future for us! And yes Chuck will certainly be spending the holidays with us, he will drive up on Tuesday and meet us there. Addie will miss her Daddy for a few days, but she sure will be busy with her five cousins! So to my Mama and Daddy, the count down is on, we will be there before you know it! Your house will be taken over by one little busy bee! Dad get all of your singing Christmas gadgets ready, she will want you to play them over and over and over again! Oh and yes dad, she still says Hi over and over as well, but now she follows with getting your shoes to tell you to go. She likes to go places, she is a busy girl! Oh one last warning, you might want to take some of the ornaments off of the bottom of the tree, she is starting to get curious!

Christmas Festivities- Fun Times!

Okay so Sunday was jammed packed with holiday activities! We ventured out in the cold to go to the Jamestown Christmas parade. (For those Northerners reading this, that is the quaint little town that we live in and their own little holiday parade). Well it was cold in NC terms(about 40 degrees)so we had to bundle Addie up like a little snowman. She was not so thrilled at first to be bundled up, but I think she caught on as to the reason. The parade lasted over an hour so we had to bank out a little early as Addie had reached her limit, but it was an impressive little parade. Addie wanted to be right down in the action and we had to hold on to her to stop her from joining in the parade. She loved the music and was dancing right along with the bands. Chuck's parents went with us to the parade. Sorry Nanu that you are not in any of the pics! After the parade, we ventured into more Christmas festivities as we went to Tanglewood to see the Christmas lights. (Again for the Yankees, that is a wonderful Christmas display of thousands of lights- there is nothing like it in NJ, but picture a Storybook Land set up that you can drive through and then multiply that times five). Well Addie was excited for the lights, but tired too! She clapped and said yeah at times, but she was also excited just to climb around the car. Yes the Social Worker Mama took her out of her car seat to drive through the light display. Are you all proud- I actually broke a rule! (And yes to my mama it was safe, we were only going about 5 miles an hour!) She did like it though! To her daddy's delight though, she is just as impressed by his Christmas lights at our house! And that sure does make him happy! Here are some pics of Addie at the parade!

Okay so I know it is early in the season, but I just love these pictures. How cute is this outfit! Okay back to the theme of the rocking chair photos as stated previously in the blog, but you see the rocking chair is the only place that Addie seems to stay still these days! She is just a moving and a shaking! Literally, she is walking non-stop or dancing around all of the time. And yes her favorite word is still "GO!"

Back to the weekend update, so after the party Friday night, we hung at home most of the day Saturday as Addie was quite clingy and fussy! The poor baby seems to have three new teeth coming in. The three teeth is just really an educated guess as that is the the best of my estimating abilities. See you can not really feel in her mouth to check the status to well as she will bite you. Sweet huh! She only bites me too, what is that about it! I guess she bites the ones she loves, not so sure! So anyway, we stayed around the house and we had to back out of a fun Christmas party at the Calfo house on Saturday night! Sorry Stacy that we missed it, but it was probably best! I would have possibly pulled my hair out chasing the little darling around or I would have had to overindulge in alcohol. HA! Just kidding, I love Addie dearly and we stayed home from the party to best serve my little darling. Here are my new favorite pics!

Busy Busy Weekend! Bounce, Bounce, Bounce!

Wow what a whirlwind of weekend! And let me first tell you all, you better love me! My camera and computer have not been cooperating tonight to add this post and yes I am still at it afer hours ot trying. By the way, I have been making a rice casserole for a work party tomorrow at the same time and writing out Christmas cards all while messing with the computer. Yes I am skilled at multi-tasking!Anyway, back to the weekend. Well I was off on Friday for my four day workweek. Sorry- another sidenote! Can I tell you all I just love this schedule. Despite having to work on this past Friday morning briefly due to a previously scheduled court hearing, it is the bomb of a schedule! And yes I am actually off completely this Friday and next!

Well after being off on Friday, we had a Birthday party to go to at the Bounce place. The party was for Dylan who is now 6!! Dylan is the son of Crystal who keeps Addie for us! He is just a doll! He was very excited for Addie to attend his party and he wanted to be sure that she sat with him while he had his birthday cake. And do you know that there were probably 30 kids at the party and in the middle of all of his friends he paid attention to Addie. And he did have her sit with him while enjoying his cake. How sweet is he!!! He said a while back that he planned to marry Addie, I think I may allow that! HA! Anyway, Happy Birthday Dylan!!

Holiday Time!

Well we are very excited about the holidays with Addie. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Burch family. Holidays sure are fun with Little Miss Addie around for entertainment. Okay so how does Addie know that you typically stuff yourself on Thanksgiving? Seriously, she ate more food then she ever does. Funny huh!

Well as for Christmas, we have very exciting news. Addie and I will fly out to New Jersey earlier then planned. I was able to get some extra time off of work so Addie and I will leave on Saturday the 20th and then Chuck will drive up on the 23rd. Okay so did I mention flying. Addie has never flown before and this will just be Addie and Mommy. Wish me luck! It is a short flight, but I sure hope she does not freak out. You know whoever has the seat with us will have that look of panic when they get on the plane. HA! It is kind of funny that we can provide torture to some stranger.

As for the Christmas preparations, well the tree is up and Addie is doing well to not mess with it. The bottom of the tree (anything in the reach of little hands) is pretty bare and of course there are no fragile ornaments there. But to my surprise Addie has only messed with one ornament. It is a fluffy snowman and I think she tries to take it off as she thinks it is a doll. She just loves the lights and the reindeer outside. She waves to the reindeer out the window, pretty cute huh! Chuck makes fun of my reindeer, but he thinks it is pretty cute how much Addie likes it.

As for shopping, can I say I am one of the few that love Black Friday, what deals. I was at Walmart at 5:01am with all of the crazies. What is with people? I must say I am obviously nuts to go to Walmart on Black Friday, but do people really need to yell and fight. I heard from some other shoppers that people were sitting on TV boxes so that noone could get the TV and that some guy bit another guy. Are you kidding me! By the way, I never ever go to Walmart on a normal day so going there on Black Friday is pretty insane. I went to KMart too which is a never in my book! Those stores are just too chaotic for me. Well I managed to go to Walmart, Macys, Dicks, Kohls, Target, Linens and Things, Michaels, and Kmart all before 9:15am. And I am almost done shopping. So for all of you that are thinking that I am nuts, take on the challenge next year, it is pretty fun to get good deals. And yes for any serious shoppers, you can go with me on Black Friday, but only if you follow the important rules of being prepared with a list, and no shopping carts unless absolutely necessary- they will slow you down on Black Friday. HA! Happy shopping everyone!

Well to Addie's Aunt Lori, We have tried and tried to get a good picture with Addie in her adorable camoflauge hat that you bought for her, but it is just not meant to be. Tonight she actually wore it for a while, but only until I would try to take a picture. Here are the efforts! It is a cute hat, but she is not having it. HA! Oh and for the cute little bows that some of you witnessed for about two weeks, yeah well she will not wear them any longer. She now pulls them right out and eats them! So no bows and no hats, just her plain little hair will have to do. Which at times I might add is a little funky lately. The other day it was standing straight up in the back and mommy was already gone to work and her dear dear daddy would not understand the need to slick that hair down with some water. It was a sight when I picked her up! It was a new meaning to hat hair!

Yes I have been totally slack with posting pics. Well there are few excuses for that-HA! I have not exactly taken too many pictures lately. Pathetic I know, Addie turns one and the camera has been out minimally. What is wrong with me? Well for the updates she is growing so fast. She is now not only walking, but running occasionally. It is pretty funny! She also now refers to me as mom instead of mama. And her vocabularly is growing. Last night she kept telling her daddy to go. They were playing catch and he needed to go and get the potato. Yes I said potato. She has play food and the potato is most fun for her to have a catch with. Forget the balls, the potato bounces better. Silly little girl! She likes to wrestle too. We tackle Chuck and tickle and play each night and she thinks that is great fun! Her other favorite past times are rocking in her rocking chair, riding horsey on her mommy's leg, dancing, and playing with babies. She pats the baby dolls on the back and says awe baby. Oh and hockey, she loves that too. I have started my four day work weeks, which I am liking some, but it is tough. Well, I meet Crystal, our wonderful daycare provider, to get Addie at the icerink on Mondays and Wednesdays as her son plays hockey. Well Addie likes to stand on the ledge up against the glass with her face stuck to the glass watching. Seriously there was a wet mark on the glass from her being so close and slobbering all over it. Oh no I may really have a little girl hockey player one day! As for the 4 day work week, I love the schedule and I am so excited about Fridays off, but I miss Addie so much. I do not see her in the morning as she is still sleeping when I leave and then I do not get her until 6:30pm. That is a long day away from my munchin. So we will keep giving it a go and seeing if Addie and I adjust. Fridays will sure be fun! Here are some pics of Ms. Addie around the house and at her friend Ellison's birthday party. Grammy and Poppy are Coming to Visit!!

We are so excited!!! My parents called today and they are coming to visit this weekend for a long weekend. How fun and spontaneous! We are so thrilled to see my mom and dad and for them to visit with Addie. My mom was here for Addie's Birthday, but my dad has not seen Addie since July. And wow how she has changed! By the way for Addie updates, she is walking!!! She can now take about 5 or 6 steps in a row. The trick was she had something in each hand the other day and she could not touch anything and to our surprise she just started walking. She is pretty consistently taking 5 or 6 steps now. She can side step really well, it is funny! You go girl!

So sorry to all of those hoping for some pics in this post (my mom especially)- I am just way too tired and going to bed. We will post pictures soon! Addie did go trick or treating on Halloween to a few neighbors and to Chuck's Aunt and Uncle around the corner. It was sooo fun!!

Addie got to try out her Lion costume early for the Halloween party at the ice rink! The party was Saturday and she cooperated fully with wearing her costume. Addie had her first ice skating experience as well. Crsytal who is Addie's childcare provider took her for a few rounds of skating. No Addie's mommy was not about to try to skate holding Addie that would have been dangerous! And Addie's Daddy was busy working! Addie had a blast. After the party we went on to Chuck's parent's house for a surprise party for Chuck's grandpa (Paw Paw) who turned 90. Addie sported her costume through some of that party as well. She is certainly all ready for Halloween!!

13 Months Old!

Well as of Friday (10/24/08) Addie is 13 months old! Time Flies! Let me just announce that Addie is not walking yet. Let me tell you that is all that everyone ever wants to know- poor baby- no pressure! And her poor mama, as that is all that everyone ever asks. It is getting annoying! As for her walking status for everyone that wants to know, she will take a step or two and then down to her knees. She can just move much quicker crawling. She is just babbling away now! And this girl loves to dance. If you play music or just say dance, she gets a moving! Her other favorite past times and climbing in and out of her rocking chair repeatedly, and yes sometimes she does not get back out of it too gracefully. She also loves her rocking horse, not riding it, but pushing it all around the room and dancing when it sings. She is a trip.

First Time Away From Addie!

Well, I did it! I made it through the weekend away from Addie, how hard was that!! Okay, I know some people may think it is pathetic that Addie is now one years old and this is the first time I spent a night away from her, but it is true. And even wrose, I was so anxious about leaving her and missing her that I was breaking out in hives at work on Friday. Seriously, I had hives on my arms! Before we left I typed a list of instructions for Chuck's poor parents that probably made them think I was nutty, as it was 1 1/2 pages long! For those of you who do not realize how silly that is, they knew most of things on the list. And when it was time to leave, I just cried and cried! Absolutely pathetic!!! I cried for like 15 minutes because I was going to miss her. So I just had to drown my sorrows with alcohol that night!

As much as I missed Addie and trust me I sure did, we had lots of fun though! We went to a wedding at the beach for Chuck's college buddy and lets just say we are not as young as we used to be. So I can pretty much still hang with one late night of partying and staying up until 3am, but not two nights of staying up until 3am and 4am. Wow I am still tired. The wedding was at the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium, what fun to be partying and dancing with the sharks!!! It was really nice and fun to have quality time with the hubby and to see some of his buddies that we do not see that often anymore with being parents.

I know I have been slack with posting the last few weeks, but pics of Addie will follow soon. I am still too tired to deal with it tonight. For some updates of Addie, she is just jibberjabbing away. She said Addie yesterday a few times, how sweet. And she is still in a mommy phase, she loves to be up under my feet. It is pretty sweet. As for the walking, still not quite. She can take some steps, but she realizes it is much easier and she can move much faster by crawling. She is pretty close though! As for teeth, there are two new teeth for a total of six now. What a big girl! Oh and to Addie's Uncle Scott and Aunt Krysta, she loves her rocking chair. She climbs in and out of it non-stop. She gets in it well and most of the time out of it well, but she still face plants occasionally. It is sad, but if you laugh, she thinks it is funny and does not cry. Am I bad mom to use such antics.
As for Halloween, we are very excited to sport Addie's costume. She will go to the Halloween party at the ice rink this Saturday and then tricking treating to a few special places, like relatives, on Halloween. She is going to be a lion. Of course we will post some pics.

What a wonderful day for Addie's birthday. It could not have been a more perfect or fun-filled day with the sweet little one-year old!! It is bitter sweet too though. I looked at Addie today and could not believe my little baby is growing so fast. These precious moments go so fast and here she is 1 already. I thought I would cry today, I just can not believe she is 1. What a big girl! Yes I know I am a big sap! Sometimes you just realize how wonderful life is and this little darling just makes my life sooo complete.

Well what did we do today? Well we are still at Oak Island Beach and we woke up this morning to playing and breakfast from paw paw. She was loving that! Then we did presents, well lets just say the boxes and wrapping paper were her favorite part. She just wanted to eat everything, I think a new tooth must be coming. I must say Addie's favorite things the last few days are baby dolls. She has fun and tired herself out into a little nap. Then time for more fun. Addie enjoyed her first ferry ride today from Southport to Fort Fisher. She had a blast!!! Then we were off to the NC Aquarium to see some fishies. Fun times!! From there we did some brief shopping and then off to dinner. We went to the Yacht Club Provisional Restaurant (or some name like that), it is an outside seafood joint and it was good food and Addie enjoyed her favorite, chicken tenders. (It seems like just yesterday we were all baby food, but no no we are completely on big girl food now. She has done so good with that transition over the last few months.) Anyway, the waitresses announced that there two ladies at another table who were celebrating a birthday so could everyone sing with them, well of course we had to explain we had a birthday too. So everyone sang to Addie and these other two ladies. Fun times! We then came home for the best part, the birthday cake. Wow did she have fun and what a mess. Her face is still tinted pink from the icing and yes this is after a bath. And now she is soundly asleep from exhaustion. And so is everyone else, but her mommy writing a blog about our day. Well here are some fun pics. We return home tomorrow and will have visitors just a few hours later. We can not wait to see my mom, Krysta, and the little ones.

Burch Family Beach Trip

Well, we are at the beach with the Burch family again for a little get away. Yes, some of you are thinking that we have already been to the beach with the Burch family and you are correct, but this is a second trip. We went in August to Ocean Isle with the whole Burch family, but this time it is just the immediate family and Chuck's Uncle Gary and Aunt Pam to Oak Island. We arrived on Saturday and we will stay until Thursday when Chuck, Addie, and I return home to get ready for the big birthday bash!!! Oh and Addie's grammy, Aunt Krysta, and her two cousins will arrive that day. YEAH! Addie will be 1 on Wednesday (9/24/08)! Can you believe it! Well I have been busy snapping pictures to cherish those last little moments of her being a little tiny baby or as my nephew says of her being 0. That just cracks me up that he says she is zero. Well here are some pictures. She is loving the wagon on the beach, aka graden cart/ wagon that her paw paw and nanu bought her to work on the beach. She has strolled in it, napped in it, and it works great to carry all of her gear to and from the house. The weather is good, but the water is too cold for ocean going. Okay Grammy and Poppy it was not easy to catch Addie cruising around with her lion, but I made it work just for you. (Grammy and Poppy bought Addie the Lion and I have been telling them for weeks how much she loves it.) At first she was afraid of it and she is still not real big on riding the lion, but she certainly loves to cruise around the house pushing the lion everywhere. Oh my gosh, can everyone believe that Addie was 11 months old yesterday. Gosh, time sure does fly by. It makes me sad that Addie is growing so fast. I love her fun filled energy and little personality that is developing, but I miss that little tiny baby girl too. Of course we would not change it for the world and no there are no plans for another baby anytime soon. Ha!

Well what is she doing at 11 months old. She is just babbling away and she totally crawls as fast as she can away from us when she puts something in her mouth that she should not have. She giggles while she crawls away too! It is a little game to her. She is also taking more and more steps. She is always pushing her little lion toy around the room now. Grammy and Poppy she is no longer afraid of it and she can cruise pretty fast now. I promise to post pictures soon, she was to quick today to catch a good picture. She is quite the little music girl too, she is always playing her toy piano. Thanks to Drew and Kylie for the piano.

The newest thing that Addie is doing is going to bed on her own. We have stopped rocking Addie to sleep against her mommy's desire to keep rocking her forever and ever. She has been going to bed on her own for about a week now and what a good girl she is. She does cry for a short time and then she is off to sleep. Each night she cries less and less. The funny thing or you could call it the pathetic thing is that she stops crying after a few minutes, but then she just sits in the corner of her crib pouting. She has fallen asleep many nights while sitting up in the corner of the crib. The other night she was holding the bar on the crib with one hand while her head was resting on this little dog toy that hangs in the crib and she was fast asleep!! We so need to get a picture, but that will wake her. She is pretty quick to coax to lying down and going to sleep from her sitting up position. A few nights we have woken her up from our giggling. I guess it is her strong will to not want to go to sleep. I say her quirky habits are definately from her daddy. HA! I know it is more likely that they are from her mommy. No comments necessary, I know the reality.

Well we had Addie's pictures done this week. Yes it is for her one year pictures, but at 11 months. Yes, I am aware that we are a month early, but that worked best for planning. We would certainly recommend her. Well will keep everyone posted on the new antics of Addie. We have been busy planning her birthday party. She turns one on 9/24/08 at 5:57am. Major Milestone!!!!!!!!

Well Addie officially took her first steps on August 14th at 10 1/2 months!!! How exciting!!! We are very excited that Addie is beginning to walk, but it is bitter sweet as we missed her first four steps. Addie was at daycare when she decided to take the first bold steps. She will only walk to little Elson though!!! Elson is eight and the son of Crystal, Addie's daycare provider. Addie is quite bonded to Elson and so far she has only walked to him. He sure is proud!!!!! On the 14th she did it twice- taking two steps into Elson's arms on each big occasion. Since then though as Elson is on vacation, Addie has regressed in her walking. She has taken one step to her daddy, but other then that she is back to the usual pattern of walking along side the couch, tables, etc. What progress though! It is exciting, but sad too that our little baby is growing up so fast. She is almost one! AGH!!!

Well for anyone who wants to make their little ones hair stand straight up, just grease up their hair with sunblock and look at the results. Of course the original purpose of the sunblock was to protect Addie's little head as she is not always cooperative with wearing her hats. But this secondary use was pretty funny! Addie is really strating to expand her eating preferences. She has always been fussy about fruit and not been a big fan of any fruit except for banannas. Well at the beach she learned to become a huge watermelon and peaches fan. Also, Chuck gae her mint chocoloate chip ice cream- now that was a hit! For all of you who have witnessed her eating habits just a month or two ago, that is huge progress and she is no longer gagging on everything. And yes by the way she still only has two teeth. Mom, can you believe how well she is eating this watermelon. It was just last month we tried watermelon and she hated it. It is a new favorite.

Burch Family Beach Trip!!!

Well Addie attended her first Burch family beach trip to Ocean Isle last week. Addie had lots of fun playing with her cousins! Thanks to Jordan, Lydia, and Grace for helping with Addie! Of course to all of the adults too. Needless to say Addie sure was spoiled during the trip. Well Addie continues to enjoy swimming, but she has shown that she prefers the pool over the ocean. She was not so sure about the ocean and she certainly did not like the sand. I guess it is too dirty for our little primadona. When we would stand her up in the sand or have her touch the sand, she would just look at it and try to climb up my legs to get out of the sand. It was pretty funny. Well next to the park is a cute little lake for the kids to fish in. They had fun fishing away with the guys! Justin is an awesome little fisherman, he caught 4 or 5 fish. Drew caught a big one too and Kylie and Allie tried for a while and then gave up. Kylie was not so crazy about the worms. The funny part was Drew and Justin caught decent size fish and then my brother caught a little goldfish looking character. HA! Great skills Scott!! Are you sure that you taught Justin how to fish. Well Addie went down the slide for the first time in Jersey and she tried to drive a car at the playground. She kept climbing to the back of the car, that better not continue as a teenager. HA! Addie loves to ride in the swing at home, but not at the park. She did fine the first go around, but the second time she screamed to get out so she had to swing with her daddy. Mini-Vacation to Jersey!!!

Well we made a whirlwind trip to NJ for a long weekend. What a busy weekend! We left on Thursday afternoon and returned on Sunday. Addie was just a doll in the car. It took 10 1/2 hours to get home and she did wonderful! Her mommy was going a little stir crazy playing in the backseat, but we made it back home safe. Thanks to Chuck for doing all of the driving. Well when we were in NJ, Addie was spoiled rotten. Her older cousins took turns pushing her around the block during our big walk. Thanks to my dad for the assistance, that was fun!!! Well Addie celebrated her first 4th of July at Smith Mountain Lake. We spent the long holiday weekend at the lake with Chuck's parents and my parents. Addie was spoiled rotten by her grammy and poppy (my parents) and her nanu and paw paw (Chuck's parents). Addie just loves the water! She had fun swimming in the lake and in her baby pool on the pier. I must say I spent the best $30 ever this weekend when I bought Addie a new life jacket. She hated her first life jacket and the boat rides were not so fun for her in the past, but now she is just fine! Plus her life jacket is much cuter now and it sports Dora. We had lots of fun and Addie enjoyed posing with her very own mini flag!

Bad Hair Days!

Well I must say Addie has some interesting hair lately. It is too short for a barrette and Chuck has been opposed to a hair cut. I am calling tomorrow for an appointment. She has these long pieces over her ears and these two horns in the front. I push the horns aside and Chuck puts them back down. He does not want the horns cut as he says they add character. I tend to disagree. It gets even worse when her daddy styles her hair, at times he even makes it stand straight up. Here is the evidence. I will agree that the mohawk look is pretty cute!!!! Wish us well on the first haircut!!

Swim Classes!

Well Addie is a little water bug! Addie and her pal, Holden, are taking swim classes at the YMCA and it is soo much fun! They both love the water so much and Addie did well with the first class. Chuck decided that Addie is more social than competitive as she would do some of the skills as she was supposed too and then she would just watch the other babies. Chuck predicts that she will be the girl on the sidelines in her soccer games talking away and twirling her hair instead of worrying about the game. She just has to watch everyone!! I guess that is why my mom calls her Nosy Rosy. HA! My mom was in town for the first class and loved going to watch. We return this weekend and both of my parents plan to come watch. Addie visited the pediatrician today for her 9 month check up! Can you all believe that she is 9 months old!!! She is getting soooo big! She weighs 20.5 lbs which puts her between the 75th and 90th percentile for weight! She is also 29 1/2 inches tall which is in the 97th percentile for height! So she is taller than rounder if you can believe that! Ha! She has got some major rolls in her legs. She is doing well with no concerns and she survived her two shots today. She is sporting a Dora bandaid with pride as a result!! This doctor's visit was a major milestone as she is now old enough to get a cookie at the end of the visit. She sure did love that!!!! She also has four new teeth coming in! She has been having a hard time with those teeth lately and now we know why- there are four coming in at once! Poor Baby!!! Right now she is sleeping well in her crib, which is better than we can say for the last few nights!!! Keep your fingers crossed that those teeth poke through soon! Mommy and Daddy want some sleep too!!

Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there, especially to my dad! I love you dad and miss you. Happy Father's day to my sweet husband too. Thanks for being such a wonderful dad to Addie. She is one lucky little girl!!! I am so excited that my parents will be visiting soon. My mom will be here on Saturday and she is soooo excited to see Addie!! My mom will fly in on Saturday and then my dad will drive down about a week later. They will be here through the 4th! Yeah!!! We are going to play with the baby, hang out, do some work around the house, and then spend the 4th at Smith Mountain Lake. It should be fun!!

Also, Congratulations to my nephews and niece on their graduations! Drew and Justin, we are proud of you for graduating from pre-K. Now you move on to Kindergarten!! Yeah! You sure are growing up! And to Kylie, good job girl! She graduated from the babysitter and she will go to
pre-K in the fall. We are proud of you Kylie Girl!! We miss you all and of course Allie and Lexie too! Lexie we promise we will come meet you soon! (Lexie is the newest niece and we have not met her yet. :( She is almost 2 months old!)

So we managed to pull of a surprise party for Chuck's 30th Birthday!! Thanks Lori for all of your hard work and help- she helped me to plan and throw off the whole thing. Thanks to Chuck's parents too. Chuck's dad cooked the pig and his mom helped with the preparations. Thanks Lindsey for your help too. Well the party went well, but with one major problem- it rained!!! AGH! There were about 70 people crammed onto the porches at Chuck's parent's house to get out of the rain! It did eventually stop raining and the party went on, but we had to move all of the food from the patio and the alcohol too of course. All of the pretty tables cloths and decorations were sacrificed in the rain. But none the less it was fun and Chuck was totally shocked about the party. Some of Chuck's college buddies came from Raleigh and he was thrilled to see them. About 8 of them stayed with us and lets just say it was a long night- we went to bed about 3am! And of course Addie was still up bright and early in the morning. Happy Birthday to Chuck and welcome to the thirties babe!!! Check out Addie in the birthday hat. Funny huh!! The other pics are of Chuck and his sisters- Lori and Lindsey, Addie with her grandma (Nanu) and Aunt Lori, Addie and Aunt Lori, and the guys late night. If forgot to mention that some of the guys were fishing in the lake at like 1am with water bottles and pork as the bait, it was quite a site and somehow they did not fall out of the canoe. Oh and they actually caught a fish. This water bottle fishing is called jugging in their terms, who knew!

So Addie has two teeth now and she is eating better. We were having alot of gagging when she ate anything other than stage 2 baby food or cereal, but she is expanding her menu lately, including the terrible baby cookies. Whoever thought of those cookies, they make a terrible mess, she had it in her hair today. YUCK!! She is trying to crawl, well kind of. She goes backwards and army crawls really well, but the forward thing she only gets occasionally and I am not sure that when she does get it that it is on purpose. She is getting really close though. And today on Father's Day she said Ma! Yeah! Here are some pics!

Well we are all moved and settled into our new house. We are loving the extra space and enjoying all of our little projects. We ordered new kitchen countertops yesterday and Chuck has been working on adding crown molding to the familyroom. Addie has adjusted just great to the new house.

Well for all of the friends and family who have been tortured with the lack of pictures of Addie lately, we finallly went and bought a new camera this weekend. We have pictures from the last month or so, but they are on our video camera and Addie's aunts and grandma have taken pictures for us, but I am aware that I have been totally slack with posting the pictures. I took some new pics tonight too of Addie trying to crawl and of her having cookie all over her face. For those friends and family who have had the displeasure of watching her eat anything other than stage two baby food, you will be thrilled to know that she ate a baby cookie tonight and did not gag!!! She has had a terrible gag reflux, but we seem to be getting past this. Also she has two teeth now!!! She looks so cute! As for the crawling, Addie is crawling backwards now! She has almost got going forward down, but not quite yet.

As for growing, Addie is now 8 months old and she weighs 19 lbs! Addie had to go and visit the doctor today as she has pink eye. Poor baby! She has started her drops so she should be good to go by tommorrow. We are keeping her home one more day, but then back to daycare. Thanks to her Nanu for helping watch her some! Well, I promise to post the pictures tomorrow. We hope everyone is doing well!

We are Moving!!!

Okay so it has been about a month since we have added any messages- oops! Life is pretty hectic in the Burch household. We put our house on the market, had one person look at it, and that was it- SOLD!!! Crazy huh it took only 2 1/2 weeks! So we are moving and need to be out by May 30th. We are actually trying to move by next weekend so that we can still go to Smith Mountain Lake for Memorial Day Weekend. Oh and did I mention that Chuck is going away for a ice rink conference in Chicago for five days before we move. Oh and he loves on Mother's Day and it is my first Mother's day!! So that is why life is hectic.

As for everything else in life which if course means Addie, Addie, Addie! She is the best! She is getting more of a personality every day. She is now 7 1/2 months and time just flies by. Her latest little stunt is when you are feeding her, she bites down on the spoon when you try to take it out of her mouth and then she just cracks up. It is pretty funny. She is getting her first tooth and I can not wait for it to be completely here. How cute will that be! Lately she has had a lot of firsts. The first time on a boat ride and wearing her little life jacket. Her first time sitting in a high chair in a restaurant. Her first popsicle! I promise to post pictures soon, but we have having camera difficulties. My camera is just not working and well with all that is going on, I have not really taken time to get in fixed or to buy a new one. That is priority one for next week! Well that is the latest with us!!

Girl's Club

Okay, these are a little delayed, but we have a few more pictures from when Addie's big cousin Kylie and her grammy were visiting. Kylie, age 4, and her mom (my sister) have a girl's club for which they are the only members. Ha! Kylie created this club and the club is called Fabulous!!!! Kylie is the President by the way. How funny! Well when Kylie was visiting we had to have Girl's Club at Aunt Stacy's house. Kylie, Grammy, Aunt Stacy, and Addie participated. We painted nails and then we played dress up. First Kylie dressed up in my clothes, shoes, jewelry, and make-up and then she modeled for her Unlce Chuck. Well, Uncle Chuck asked why Addie was not participating- he should have never asked!!! We then dressed Addie up in her mommy's clothes and jewelry and Addie's pink snow boots. We giggled and giggled! What a fun time, here is the evidence from Girl's Club.

The latest with the Burch family!!

Well, life has been pretty hectic for the Burch family over the last month. Addie is growing so fast and Chuck and I like to spend all of our free time with her. We are hoping to move soon and we have our place on the market finally!! I have delayed as long as possible, as I have been dreading having the house on the market with a baby, but we really do need more space. I was right by the way, it is hard to have your house on the market, and have a baby, and work! I guess that is why I am tired! HA! I am also switching jobs the end of this month so I have been busy at work getting ready to transfer all of my current work! I will still be a social worker of couse, but now I will do adoptions and work with all teenagers! I am so excited, this should be a lot less demanding, but I still get to work with children which I just love. I guess that means I will not have to work all day, rush to get Addie from daycare, do dinner and take care of Addie, get her to bed, and then do court reports. What a relieve!!! And lastly we had visitors a few weeks ago as my mom and my niece visited and we sure did have fun! My dad was not able to come at the last minute due to work! That was a bummer, but to our excitement, he called today and he will be visiting this week! Yeah! I can't wait for my dad to see Addie. He has not seen her since Christmas. Won't he be shocked at how much she has grown. I am sure he will get a kick out of her newest skill. She just loves to do this high pitched scream when she is playing. Wow, is it piercing, but pretty funny. The funny thing is that she thinks it is funny too. Well that is what is new with us!!!!

Addie is fast approaching 6 months old. Can you believe it?? We can still remember when she was just a few days old. She is such a big girl now! She is eating and growing so fast!
